OVERVIEW
Formerly a gravel pit, Berniere was first dug over 40 years ago and has good depths of anywhere between 10-19 ft. There are currently 13 swims on the lake, comprising of 5 doubles and 7 singles, all left fairly natural.
The lake is approximately 27 acres, elongated in shape at only 185 yards wide and has depths averaging 12ft. The lake does have weed and is best suited to anglers comfortable fishing in weed.
A track around the entire perimeter of the lake, suitable for driving, makes access to all of the swims easy and also makes it very convenient for setting up and packing down.
You are able to park right behind all of the swims for the week. The lake is totally fenced and as secure as we can make it.
FISH STOCK
Berniere contains approximately 400 – 450 carp to well over 60lbs.
There are at least 6 fish over 60lbs, roughly 20 over 50lbs and over 100 fish to 40lbs.
The average size is thought to be about 31lbs based on catch reports.
There are some bream and poisson chat present as well as crayfish which can be active in the warmer months. If nuisance species become an issue it’s advisable to use tiger nuts as a hookbait.
FACILITIES & FOOD
The onsite facilities behind swim 2 include an immaculately kept shower/toilet block with 2 separate lockable sides. Each contain flushing toilets, a shower and wash basins with hot and cold running water.
Next to the facilities you find a place to do your dishes with hot running water and a drying rack.
Inside the anglers lodge there is a gas oven cooker with a 4 ring gas, a 110 litre chest style fridge and a 240 litre chest freezer.
There is a solar system for electricity enabling you to charge any of your power banks or mobile phones. Big batteries can be charged upon request through a power aggregate.
Next to the lodge is a BBQ and socializing area with a large brick built BBQ and seating.
There are x3 BBQ’s and seating areas spread around the lake behind swims 2, next to swim 5 and behind swim 7.
Campervans
All swims are suitable to park a campervan up to LWB transit size. If a larger campervan then swims 1 & 2, 8 and 11 would be suitable.
