OVERVIEW
Le Coly is a picturesque and mature ex-quarry located on the Limousin / Dordogne border of Southwestern France. It’s a renowned ‘big carp water’ which we feel is best suited for groups of up to 3 anglers.
The lake is roughly 4.5 acres in size with two large double swims, two single swims, contains next to no weed and has depths ranging from 4ft to 14ft+ in places. The lake bed presents a variety of substrates including sand, clay and crushed stone.
There are various underground springs throughout the lake which means a continual turnover of water and exceptional water quality. Combine this with a regular food source and it’s a textbook environment to grow big carp. We’re seeing carp averaging weight gains of 8lb – 12lb a year for example.
FISH STOCK
There are approximately seventy carp in total with roughly thirty carp weighing in excess of 50lb (23kg), fourteen over 60lb (27kg) and a lake record of 70lb (32kg). Roach, rudd, perch, pike and zander are also present with no catfish or sturgeon.
FACILITIES & FOOD
The facilities include a toilet and hot showers, charging facilities and a luggage storage room located in the gîte, which is approximately 3 minutes walk from any of the swims. Le Coly provide landing nets, weigh slings and landing mats.
A bailiff is on site 24/7 to assist you throughout your holiday.
A food package is available at Le Coly from 160€ per person per week. Payment for the food package is made directly to the bailiff on arrival in euros. The food package consists of breakfast and dinner which is served in your swim so fishing remains uninterrupted.
Menu Example
Breakfast – Bacon, sausage, fried egg in a freshly baked baguette and a small carton of Orange juice or Apple juice.
Dinner – A complimentary drink of beer or a soft drink will be provided with every evening meal.

- Pork and herb bangers with creamy mashed potato and onion gravy
- Sunday roast – chicken with stuffing or pork with stuffing and apple sauce or beef and Yorkshire pudding with horseradish sauce – roasted potatoes, roasted parsnips and vegetables
TACKLE & BAIT
Boilies, Particles and pellet are available on a pre-order basis.

Particle is prepared on site and is freshly cooked to order. Bait pre-orders must be placed a minimum of 10 days before your holiday start date. A 50% part payment made directly to Le Coly may be required for some bait orders.
Tackle hire and bait are chargeable extras and are to be arranged with the bailiff prior to your arrival. Payment for tackle and bait is made directly to the bailiff on arrival in euros.
MAP & DIRECTIONS
Le Coly is approximately 5hrs 20 minutes drive from the port of Caen or approximately 7hrs drive from the port of Calais.
Directions will be provided on conformation of booking.
RULES
- 3 rods maximum per angler.
- All hooks must be micro barb or barbless.
- No braided main lines.
- No leaders of any kind, tubing must be used.
- No magic twig.
- Minimum breaking strain is 8 kg or 15 lb.
- All rigs must allow fish to free themselves in case of a breakage. Rig checks will be carried out.
- No lead core.
- No plastic baits of any kind.
- No zig rigs
- No Goo to be used.
- Bait-boats are allowed.
- Anglers must report any snagged fish or lost tackle immediately. The safety of our fish and our wildlife is of paramount importance.
- Do not leave rods unattended under any circumstances.
- Whole tiger nuts and peanuts are strictly forbidden.
- Particles are only to be provided by the fishery. These are freshly prepared so please order when booking.
- Landing mats, weigh slings and landing nets are provided in every swim.
- Our fish must be treated with care. Please apply antiseptic to all hook holds.
- All our fish must be weighed and photographed in the water. Special landing stations have been built in every swim.
- All fish must be released immediately. NO sacking of fish. Please do not hesitate to ask for any help with night photos, our staff are available at any time.
- The row boat is for the sole use of our staff.
- Please dispose of all litter and all cigarette buts in the bins provided. Littering will not be tolerated.
- Dogs are allowed at the fishery’s discretion. Please discuss with Le Coly when booking.
- Alcohol is permitted in moderation, drunkenness will not be tolerated. Our banks have steep drops and caution must be used at all times.
Please respect our rules. These are designed for the safety of our fish and our anglers. Any infringement of our rules may result in the entire group being ejected from the fishery.
